Good evening, honorable judges, dear teachers and students. My topic today is glimmer of light.

下午好，尊敬的评委们、亲爱的老师和学生们，我今天的主题是萤烛之光。

We have all experienced moments in our lives where we have felt lost, overwhelmed and hopeless.

我们在生活中都经历过这样的时刻：我们感到失落、不知所措和绝望。

But even in the darkest times, there is always a glimmer of light that illuminates our path and guides us through darkness.

但即使在最黑暗的时刻，总有一束萤烛之光照亮我们前进的道路，指引我们度过黑暗时光。

The glimmer of light can come from him or her or all of you. It can be a source of inspiration and motivation for us to keep going in life.

这束萤烛之光可以来自他或她，也可以来自你们所有人。它可以鼓舞我们继续生活，给我们的生活带来动力。

As a junior middle school student, I have experienced difficulties in my academic life.

作为一名初中生，我曾在学业中遇到了困难。

During my first year of junior middle school, I struggled to adapt to the rigorous curriculum and demanding workload.

在我初中一年级的时候，我很难适应如此高的学业要求。

I felt overwhelmed and lost, and didn’t know how to keep up with the pace of the classes.

我感到迷茫、不知所措，不知道如何跟上课上的节奏。

However, there was a glimmer of light from my English teacher who tried to understand my struggles and offer guidance and support to me.

然而，我的英语老师给我带来了一缕曙光，她很理解我在学业中遇到的困难，并给了我指引和鼓励。

Her encouragement and belief in me gave me the strength to keep going and eventually made me excel in my studies.

她对我的鼓励和信任给了我继续前进的力量，最终使我在学习中取得了优异成绩。

Undoubtedly, the teacher’s help and encouragement are exactly the glimmer of light that makes a significant impact on my life.

毋庸置疑，老师对我的帮助和鼓励正是那黑暗中的一缕曙光，这缕曙光对我的生活产生了十分重要的影响。

The hope radiating from the glimmer of light is not only embodied in my own experience but also reflected in every corner of society.

萤烛之光所带来的希望不仅出现在了我自己的经历中，它在社会中的每个角落都有体现。

Have you ever watched the movie “Ordinary Hero” which is based on a true story? It describes a miraculous story of a 7-year-old boy who lost his arm in an accident, and was finally saved with the help of doctors, airline’s crew, passengers, police, and many other ordinary people from different aspects of society. There were too many scenes that moved us.

你看过根据真实故事改编的《平凡英雄》这部电影吗？它讲述了一个奇迹般的故事：一个7岁的男孩在一次事故中失去了手臂，最终在医生、机组人员、乘客、警察和许多来自社会不同方面的普通人的帮助下获救。这部电影有太多的场景感动了我们。

It was the captain, who decided to slide the plane back, that gave the boy a chance of life.

正是机长决定把飞机滑回廊桥，二次开舱，才给了这个男孩一个生还的机会。

It was the family, who were willing to offer their seats to the boy, that gave way to the boy’s life.

正是这一家人愿意为男孩让座，才给男孩让出了一条生命之路。

It was the airline’s crew working tirelessly within the golden 8-hour period,  that ensured the successful completion of the rescue and treatment of the boy.

正是航空公司的机组人员在黄金8小时内不知疲倦地工作，才确保了救援接力的成功完成以及保证了男孩及时地得到了治疗。

It was every ordinary pedestrian, who was willing to give way to the car, that gave time to life.

正是步行街上的全体行人给搭载男孩的汽车让路，才为男孩的生命争取了宝贵时间。

This story reflects the glimmer of light that comes from everyone in our society who is willing to show their unselfishness, concern,kindness,unity and compassion.

这个故事展现了我们社会中每一个人都能发出自己的那束萤烛之光。我们社会中的每个人都有无私奉献的精神，心系他人的品质，善良之心、团结一致的精神和恻隐之心，并且每个人都愿意用自己的萤烛之光去照亮他人。

As Lu Xun said, “Just give as much light as the heat can produce.Do your utmost like a firefly shining itself in the darkness of night,independent of bigger source of light.

正如鲁迅所说：有一份热，发一份光，就像萤火一般，也可以在黑暗里发一点光，不必等候炬火。
